Today I had to get some routine blood tests done so I went early in the morning. When I arrived I was the only one in the room and the young lady behind the desk acknowledged that I was there. I said hi and she continued to look at her computer screen. She didn't smile, took my orders, filled out the paperwork, didn't make eye contact and asked me to have a seat.
Then she walked around the window, opened the door and announced my name, "Karen Keller" to an empty room except for me. I walked in, sat down and looked at her shoes. She had on the neatest looking Puma tennis shoes I had seen. So I said, "Wow, where did you get those cool shoes?" She smiled, pulled up her pant leg and began a never-ending dialogue of information.
She gave me more information about herself than she realized. I thought to myself as I listened that she only needed to be recognized. More than just a technician but for a person who has great taste in footwear!
What is important about this story? Everyone everywhere should know and be aware of the amount of influence they have over anyone within their compass. And what did I do? I simply posed a comment that influenced her to share her feelings about how smart she was to have made such a wise purchase, to share her smile, and I influenced someone's day.
Now, how do you think she carried her attitude to the next person needing her services? I write more about how to, without hesitation, become an "Expert Influencer" in my FREE whitepaper on my blog. (It should be arriving next week)!
I challenge everyone reading this blog to notice one thing, intentionally, and influence. Yes, just simply try your hand at influencing someone who could really use it. When you have successfully done this, drop me a note telling me the response you got, how you felt, and what made your 'influence' significant. Go ahead, influence someone today!
