Your personal life coach isn’t a magician (sadly). The big, fat bottom line is that a personal life coach simply can’t wave a magic wand and make all of your personal and career woes disappear.

Today, I want to talk about one of the most magical things I’ve discovered in my career as a coaching professional thus far – and it’s a lot like magic! It’s three things that my clients have told me I’ve helped them achieve. These aren’t necessarily things I’ve set out to do in working with people. They’re delightful, ancillary benefits that clients actually receive by working with me in my career as a personal life coach. I do hope you enjoy the surprise as much as I have.

Crisis Management Since there’s usually a short delay between when a client says they need me and we can have a conference call or meeting, my clients have acquired better crisis management skills. Instead of spending our time discussing what’s NOT the problem, the time delay makes them dispense with most everything that’s not important. That means we get to focus on the heart of the matter!

Better Presentation Skills I loved this! My clients have said that from working with me, they’ve become better speakers and presenters. Now, for most of my clients, this isn’t something we’ve actively worked on. Yet, when they come in to discuss a new issue, they’ve had to figure out how to present it. The result? As time goes on, they’ve gotten to practice their presentation skills without even realizing it and they’ve improved in the process.

Becoming More Proactive Clients have to schedule their own sessions and hold themselves accountable for all of the actions we establish during our sessions. That means that my clients understand that they have to do the work themselves. They know what procrastination feels like. They also know what it feels like to have accomplished things on their own steam. That’s something I can’t make them do – it’s something they’ve discovered for themselves!

Your action task for today is to make a list of 3 things YOUR personal life coach could potentially help you with, as well as 2 ancillary benefits of each thing. A main goal and 2 benefits you might not have considered on the surface. I look forward to seeing what you’ve come up with!
