Chances are, you do know it, but you’re afraid to admit it. It sounds odd that we might actually be afraid to admit how much we know, but sometimes in our career and life, we end up deferring to people so much, that it becomes a habit and we stop trusting our own judgment and knowledge. So how do you get rid of the fear of being wrong or that you don’t know the answer? Here are a couple tips to help you.
Don’t overthink everything.
Sometimes our head can be our own worst enemy when it comes to overcoming our fear of being wrong or not having all the answers. Stop spending so much time in your head and just act. Every once in a while a little impulsive decision making or advice can show you that you know a lot more than you think and it has value for friends, family and colleagues.
Learn to trust your gut.
Intuition. Ladies, we have it in droves and for some reason, some of us just stop trusting it. You have got to learn how to listen to it again. Our intuition is formed by experience and knowledge and it rarely steers us wrong. Start listening to your gut and when you see that you can instinctively make the right decisions based on your knowledge, your fear will start to fade.
Be brave.
It’s a simple solution that not easy at all. Sometimes admitting and facing your fears head on can take the amount of bravery it would take to slay a dragon. Our fears are what have kept us from achieving self-confidence and we have to face them before we can start improving our self-esteem. It takes incredible bravery to face what we fear and you should feel proud of yourself just for facing them.
