Real Power for Women – It’s Your Money, Honey!

by Karen Keller, Ph.D. on March 22, 2011

Its raining money!

Real power for women comes from owning our circumstances.
Not our financial status, the car we drive, our business’ revenue or anything
else. And I can say from my own experience that finances are a big sticking
point for not only me, but my clients as well.

But how do we get a grip on our finances? We have kids to
feed, employees to pay, bills and other obligations that line up to drain any
hope of savings. But here’s where I’ll ask you to think again. There’s one
simple way to shift your financial thinking, and that’s to consider yourself to
be your first client each and every day.

When you do this, suddenly YOU are something you must attend
to each day, just like your clients. And then, you can tap into that real
power. For women, money doesn’t have to be a taboo subject. That’s why I’ve
made you a short list of resources, all available online or in your bookstore,
to make your financial life more green than red!

Smart Women Finish
Rich by David Bach
– Pretty much the standard for simple books on finances
specifically for women, this is a definite add to your bookshelf or eReader.
Figure out your Latte Factor and why your behavior is keeping you from being
the female financial powerhouse you could be.

Mint.com – Hands-down the best, free resource on the web for
managing your money. At tax time, it even syncs-up with TurboTax! It really
doesn’t get any easier than this.

Bankrate.com – Do your research. Are you getting the best rate

yourself a disservice if this isn’t in your cache of tools. (PS: they also have
great financial calculators!)
