Since the majority of my clients are women, the subject of small business for women is undoubtedly a hot topic in conversation. Where do you go? How do you begin? Are there resources available to women who want to venture into small business and build something they can call their own?
The answer is yes on all counts!
Small business for women shares many of the same qualities as small business in general. The great thing is that women tend to form communities of support for other women. It’s less about being better than someone else and helping others become the best they can be. Small business for women also brings a dimension to the table that other businesses don’t have to consider: the role of family. When you’re venturing into new business territory as a woman, you always have to consider how your spouse and children will be impacted.
Today, I put together a list of resources for everything related to small business for women. I hope you enjoy – and as your action task for today, feel free to add your own resources in the comments section for everyone’s benefit!
Office of Women’s Business Ownership (SBA.gov)
Women-Owned Business Economic Research (a GREAT list of studies!)
WomanOwned.com (a very comprehensive website of resources for women)
National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) (a national organization of female business owners – a well-respected group)
Grants and Loans for Women-Owned Businesses (a listing of resources from Business.gov)
